I have tried some collagen products before but haven´t noticed any improvement on my skin, and was left with questions like: “Do collagen supplements work at all? Is it proven by science?” and as there are so many supplements and powders available “How to choose the best collagen supplement – what should I look for?“. So I decided it´s time to dig into the topic more deeply.
First, I did some research on collagen and collagen supplements to break the collagen topic into pieces, and after that had a look on which kind of collagen supplements are getting the best feedback from users for the time being. And the emphasize is on user feedback. Thus I decided to choose Amazon as it has quite a big handful of user feedback. Considered also iHerb, but Amazon seemed to have more feedback.

And the winner is...
Based on my research, I decided to try product number 2: Sports Research Organic Collagen Peptides (powder) mainly because it contains type I and III collagen peptides to target both – skin and joints, is organic, sourced from grass-fed animals (free of hormones and antibiotics) and is made using 70% less water and 60% less energy than traditional collagen peptide extraction methods. The less it hurts the planet, the better.
Also – as I have a habit to consume collagen in a powder form with self-made smoothies which always contain vitamin C, then I do not need a collagen product enriched with vitamin C. So, if you consume your collagen for example with coffee, then would be rather good to have also vitamin C (which is necessary for collagen production in your body) inside the collagen product.
But most of all I prefer to get collagen precursors mainly from food as food sources are generally considered safe with minimal side effects. With food I can provide my body with the building blocks (amino acids) in their natural form, alongside other potentially beneficial nutrients present in the food that are necessary to make collagen. And probably it is more expensive to buy quality supplements every month than to eat collagen precursor-rich foods.
I hope this information helps you to do a better choice with less time.
